Happy Happy SUNDAY...
Yes. If you've detected a PATTERN finally reemerging from this blog, it's that I've been trying to consistently post on Sunday mornings...A) because I'm UP and ALONE and B) because it puts the pressure off for an entire week.
*FULL DISCLOSURE: I would get so overwhelmed with not having time to post that WEEKS would go by...and then I would feel guilty...and then I would randomly blog CRAP posts JUST to get the cake pictures up for you....See how NUTS I am? I have no ability to LET IT GO.
So, I decided that Sunday morning is BLOG TIME. It's quiet. Everything from the week is fresh in my head, and I have TIME to post it up.
Now this week IT has finally happened again: SUMMER BREAK. The kids are out of school and will be under our feet for the next two-and-a-half months. The last couple of years Summer has felt kind of QUICK for them. I barely remember what we did with them for those months...I guess because we weren't THAT busy. But, this year? We've kind of been CRAZY busy...so it should get REALLY interesting.
*FULL DISCLOSURE: We have my mom to help us out, so I am eternally grateful for HER. THANK YOU, GOOGIE!
No matter HOW busy we are we are STILL taking our STAFF SUMMER BREAK from June 23-29. Yes. We are CLOSING Retro again, so we can have some SUMMERTIME fun with our kiddies. What we DIDN'T do is plan ahead, so we're not going ANYWHERE or doing ANYTHING specific (like last year's trip to Oregon). You see, I didn't realize that people had already ordered cakes and cupcakes for EVERY WEEKEND in the summer before we could PLAN a break, so we had to choose a Monday through Friday break and reopen on a Saturday (just to close again on the Sunday). That means we'll be back to work on the Thursday and Friday before to prep and finish the cakes for Saturday, BUT at least we get the BREAK.
Don't get me wrong. I LOVE being busy. I LOVE have a thriving business, BUT the 6-day, 90 hours a week job gets to you after a while...and it's kinda nice to have some time to take a walk hand-in-hand with your 6-year-old before she magically turns 13 and starts registering for HIGH SCHOOL...So, it MUST be done. We MUST take OUR family time before our family grows up.
While I plan a summer vacay...YOU look at the Cakes/Cupcakes O' the Week!
